Investigation location Berlin |
The fictional detective chief inspectors Nina Rubin , played by Meret Becker , and Robert Karow , played by Mark Waschke , are the main characters in the episodes of the ARD television series Tatort , which are set in Berlin . The crime thrillers produced for the rbb have been broadcast with the investigative team since March 2015 .
In 2019 it was announced that Meret Becker will leave the Berlin crime scene after her 15th case . Her successor is to be Corinna Harfouch in 2022 .
background
The episodes produced by the rbb should not always be self-contained - based on models such as KDD - Criminal Investigation Service and the Rostock Police Call 110 investigative team Bukow and König - but rather combine the respective murder case with a story spanning several episodes . The first episodes were about the question of whether investigator Karow had anything to do with the death of his former partner in the drug department . Even after the conclusion of this plot in the Dunkelfeld case, unlike the episodes of other crime scene investigative teams, reference is made again and again to the events of previous films. Among other things, a subplot tells over several episodes how investigator Rubin's marriage breaks up and how her growing sons develop. Also events of the episode The Good Way , in which Rubin has to kill a person in self-defense , play a role in the further character development of the main characters and are taken up again later when Rubin expresses the wish to leave the homicide squad.
characters
Nina Rubin
Nina Rubin was born as a Jew in the Berlin workers' district of Wedding and currently lives in Kreuzberg . When she was nine years old, her mother died. That is why her father took refuge in work and volunteered to train youngsters at the SV Astoria boxing club. Nina benefits from the experience in the boxing club when she later goes to the police.
Rubin loves the Berlin nightlife and lives out dancing, which, in addition to the longing for maximum intensity, also acts as a balance to her work in the homicide squad.
Nina Rubin is an emotional person who can empathize with others. She is very social, warm, and has a good instinct for people. Unfortunately this gift causes problems for the detective chief inspector from a professional point of view, namely when she gives up professional distance in favor of her empathy.
Rubin family
- Dr. Viktor Rubin (played by Aleksandar Tesla )
- Tolja Rubin (played by Jonas Hämmerle )
- Caleb Rubin (played by Louie Betton )
Viktor Rubin became too much for Nina's style and her enthusiasm for Berlin nightlife. As a consequence, he moved out of the shared apartment. Tolja, the older of the two brothers, blames Nina for the separation and moves in with his father, while Kaleb initially stays with his mother. When Kaleb celebrates his bar mitzvah , the festival temporarily brings the family back together. Ultimately, Nina and Viktor, who finally leaves Berlin and moves to Bavaria, go their separate ways.
Robert Karow
Chief Detective Robert Karow was born in Berlin-Pankow and comes from a middle-class family. He has a pronounced visual memory that amazes others and provides him with insights in his work that even astonish colleagues. Karow has a high level of abstraction and a brilliantly logical, frighteningly quick thinking ability. Unlike Nina, he is not interested in individual fates, but in larger contexts. He has a keen sense of irony and absurd humor, but also a melancholy trait - coupled with the ability to be difficult to trust.
Karow, who lived alone, was the first crime scene investigator to be identified as openly bisexual by the creators . In relationships, he tends to keep his respective partners at a distance emotionally and at times to be selfish and inconsiderate with them, which among other things leads to the resignation of the coroner Nasrin Reza.
