Your name is Harbinger is a TV film from the crime series Tatort , which was first broadcast on December 10, 2017. It is the 1038th episode in the series and the sixth case of the Berlin team of investigators Rubin and Karow .

action

A burned-out delivery truck with a male body is found on the outskirts. Rubin and Karow assume a murder and determine that there were three other cases that went similarly and were never solved. All victims were conceived by in vitro fertilization in a fertility clinic. The clinic is led by Dr. Stefan Wohlleben, who managed it from his mothers, the former managing director Dr. Irene Wohlleben and her partner and former head of the laboratory, Hanneke Tietzsche. Stefan Wohlleben was one of the first test- tube babies to be born in the 1980s .

The investigation leads to Werner L. Harbinger, who years ago as Werner Lothar carried out an unsuccessful attack on Irene Wohlleben and now runs a locksmith in a Berlin subway station. He was a psychiatric patient. Karow uses unusual methods to win the man's trust in order to get to someone who is behind him, called The Legate . In fact, after a while Werner Lothar leads Karow into an abandoned hall and shows him that he always receives the legate's radio messages there. Lothar also says that he captures the victims for the legate and brings them to the handover location. He doesn't know what happens after that. Karow has to tell him that the Legate cruelly kills and burns his victims. Lothar is shocked and loses confidence in the legate.

During the search of Lothar's locksmith, Rubin and her colleagues find old files from the fertility clinic of Dr. Irene Wohlleben. They question Wohlleben and Tietzsche, who admit that Tietzsche took 25 egg cells 40 times from her then young friend Wohlleben , which she then took from the desperate women who were desperate to become mothers and therefore turned to Dr. Well-living clinic found and implanted. Wohlleben has countless offspring, all of whom are half-siblings . After hearing about Rubin's investigation, the critically ill Tietzsche commits suicide by swallowing an overdose of pills.

Rubin discovers that her colleague and commissioner candidate Anna Feil is involved in the case: Her parents' names are also among those in the old files from the fertility clinic. She therefore also seems to be one of the descendants of Wohlleben, whom the legate wants to wipe out with the help of his henchman Lothar. This has been observing the in vitro children for years, as can be seen in the files on Feil with the label "R18". Feil herself knows nothing about the fact that her mother is not her birth mother. Nina Rubin has forensic doctor Reza assure her that her colleague Anna Feil actually belongs to the half-siblings.

As a result, she was withdrawn from the case on the basis of this fact, but without an explanation and only with the instruction that she should take her service weapon home with her. Nevertheless, Feil continues to investigate. She soon discovers her files and everything becomes clear to her. On her own initiative, she visits Irene Wohlleben's son in the fertility clinic - emotionally spurred on. She wants to find out from him whether it is possible that her mother is not her real mother at all. You must learn that this can be. During the whole conversation she does not reveal herself to Wohlleben as a police officer.

Meanwhile, Karow is still investigating undercover. Lothar soon finds out about him and Karow has to admit that he is a police officer. After Lothar learns of the legate's true machinations and intentions, he loses his nerve. Finally the legate shows up in the abandoned warehouse and the riddle is solved: Dr. Good living is the legacy. He has a syringe with him and wants to use it to kill Karow, who was believed to be dead, as well as two of the four previous victims, in order to eliminate his confidant. But Karow just pretended to be dead and reveals himself to be alive when Stefan Wohlleben starts the injection. He can't kill Karow alive.

Karow wants Dr. Stefan Wohlleben learn the real intentions. He says that he wants to remain the only descendant of his mother Irene Wohlleben, who was conceived in a glass. If the public found out about his “illegal” half-siblings, his reputation would be ruined and he would have to close the fertility clinic and everything he has ever built would be gone. One can also assume a personal trauma as the motive: in their conversation with Anna Feil he told that he had been bullied at school and that he was called the lesbian son born in the glass. That put him under a lot of mental stress. He was able to win Werner Lothar as a henchman by making use of his completely different than normally functioning world and human image. In very cryptic sentences he talks to Lothar and says that both of them are in the system of a world in which everyone else is against them.

Finally Wohlleben pours a canister of gasoline over Karow and tries to set it on fire. But at this moment Werner Lothar returns and prevents Wohlleben from doing so with a physical fight, because he has lost confidence in him and at the same time does not want Karow to die. Wohlleben still tries to get Lothar back on his side, but he fails and resigns. Lothar pushes him through a pane of glass and he falls down. Badly injured, he tries to move away and flee from the unpredictable Lothar, but the latter catches up with him. First he doused Wohlleben and then himself with a canister of gasoline. Then he lights fire. Rubin and colleagues can no longer prevent Lothar and Dr. Burn Stefan Wohlleben. The only way to save Karow is to free him.

Reviews

“It is not fundamentally reprehensible that those responsible in this science-and-ethics 'crime scene' try to stage a difficult socio-political material as an overstimulated B-movie. But the fact that they do it so sloppily and with such a denunciating undertone makes you stunned. "

“Let's talk about success. Through Berlin's mysterious places such as a heat distributor at Tempelhofer Feld or an earlier ironworks in Wittenau, the 'Tatort: Your Name Be Harbinger' gets a widely ramified network of movement that visualizes Werner L. Harbinger's delusional system […] as it were. [...] Cinematographer Eva Katharina Bühler and director Florian Baxmeyer offer one of the most convincing visual languages in 'Tatort' 2017 with their nervous rhythm. Strong, very strong. "
