SOKO Cologne is a German crime series that is broadcast on ZDF . It is the third offshoot of the TV crime series SOKO 5113 and was first broadcast on October 22, 2003. So far, 18 seasons have been produced and broadcast.

action

At the center of the five-person investigative group of the Cologne Special Commission was Chief Detective Alexandra Gebhardt. Her team consisted of the experienced detective chief inspector Frank Hansen, the detective inspector Tobias Berger, the inspector candidate Vanessa Haas and initially the German-Italian detective inspector Daniela Fiori, who got out in the last episode of the second season after she was kidnapped by a suspect . Her successor was Detective Inspector Carla Schumann, who only stayed one season and was later replaced by Detective Inspector Jale Beck. The superior was Ben Schneider.

The SOKO mostly solved murder cases in and around Cologne as a team, the investigations took them not only to the red light district and the city park, but also to crime games in manor houses or live role-playing games in castles. The investigators' private lives also played a role. Ben Schneider also regularly brought a comedic element to the series. With his eager, overzealous manner, he regularly got on the nerves of his people, who probably saw their boss as more of an annoying administrative officer than a police colleague. However, he also had more serious scenes and when the going got tough, the entire team stood by his side.

As part of the 5th season, there was a special feature-length edition in early 2007 . In the death of a police officer involved the murder of a young police student and a car dealer . It turns out that the two acts had a common background and that a police instructor was also involved. This time the investigations led the commissioners to Amsterdam .

occupation

From the 6th season on there were some changes. Three characters were eliminated, Frank Hansen, Vanessa Haas, Dr. Philip Kraft and manager Ben Schneider. New to the team were Karin Reuter (Chief Commissioner), Daniel Winter (Commissioner) and Julia Marschall (Commissioner). From this season onwards, Frank Hansen is no longer chief detective, but chief detective. This promotion is not mentioned within the series, as is often the case with ZDF.

In the 10th season there was another personnel change. In the first episode, Chief Inspector Matti Wagner came to represent the Inspector Marschall, who had gone on maternity leave . In the course of the episode, Chief Detective Hansen is critically injured while pursuing a suspect and dies a short time later.

In the middle of season 10, Daniel Winter is transferred to Hamburg at his own request for private reasons . Jonas Fischer (detective inspector), who is well versed in law, will take over his position , while Ben Schneider is hardly mentioned during the 10th season and will therefore be eliminated at the end of the 10th season.

At the beginning of season 11, prosecutor Dr. Alexander Kern joins the team and begins a relationship with Karin Reuter. At the end of the 11th season Julia Marschall leaves the SOKO and is replaced by Sophia Mückeberg at the beginning of the twelfth season. During the twelfth season, Dr. Kern moved to the public prosecutor's office in Cologne to move to the International Court of Justice in The Hague and ended the relationship with Karin Reuter.

During the 13th season, Detective Inspector Sophia Mückeberg will be loaned to Dortmund to investigate a drug dealer, and Detective Inspector Hanna Bergmann will act as her representative.

At the beginning of the 14th season, the ex-husband of Chief Detective Karin Reuter and his girlfriend are murdered. After the end of the case, Karin Reuter quits her job to look after her ex-husband's adopted daughter. Her successor at SOKO is Chief Detective Nina Jacobs.

At the beginning of the 15th season, both detective inspector Sophia Mückeberg and detective chief inspector Nina Jacobs left SOKO Cologne. Mückeberg leaves because she feels responsible for the fact that Jacobs is shot during an operation. They will be replaced by Detective Inspector Lilly Funke (played by Tatjana Kästel ) and Detective Chief Inspector Anna Maiwald ( Diana Staehly ), who will take over the management of SOKO in the 15th season. As is only later known, Maiwald has a title of nobility, which she does not use in service.

In the 14th episode of the 18th season, Chief Detective Anna Maiwald left SOKO Cologne.

Crossover

As of April 3, 2013, a five-part crossover of all ZDF-SOKO series was produced. The teams from SOKOs 5113 , Cologne, Leipzig , Stuttgart and Wismar investigate the murder of a police officer and find themselves in a criminal environment in which their own law and order prevail. The five-part case, the trail of which stretches across Germany, was broadcast from September 30 to October 4, 2013 on weekdays on the well-known SOKO pre-evening broadcasting point from 6:00 p.m.
