occupation

The fourth man is an Austro - German crossover film between the two SOKO - crime series SOKO Vienna and SOKO Leipzig . It was first broadcast on November 2, 2019 on ORF 1 . The crossover was shown on ZDF on November 8, 2019 as part of the 30th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall . The script was based on a true story about the circle of Viennese businesswoman Rudolfine Steindling , called the "Rote Fini".

action

The star violinist Philipp Baumgarten is kidnapped after a concert in Leipzig. His violin, which came from the workshop of a violin maker in Vienna, has also disappeared. Therefore, the Leipzig investigators turned to their Viennese colleagues to find out the role of the violin in the kidnapping. When trying to speak to the violin maker, the Viennese investigators find him seriously injured. A little later, the kidnapped violinist can be found alive in Leipzig. With his testimony, the kidnapper can be identified. It is Kurt Lehrmann, the caretaker of the Leipzig Gewandhaus. During the GDR era he was imprisoned for a violent crime for several years, but his motive behind the kidnapping seems puzzling. When a retired banker is murdered in Vienna shortly afterwards and the description of the perpetrator fits Kurt Lehrmann, it becomes clear that the Leipzig and Vienna colleagues will work together on this cross-border case.

reception

Reviews

“The perpetrator, played by the great Thorsten Merten, is known to the audience from the start. Director Erhard Riedelsperger develops the tension of this SOKO double number from the cat-and-mouse game between perpetrator and police as well as perpetrator and potential victims. The trio of authors Max Gruber, Markus Hoffmann and Uwe Kossmann mixes the German-German past with a piece of Austrian history - keyword "the red Fini" alias Rudolfine Steindling, who is said to have actively cheated on the settlement of the GDR foreign trade. "

“So it goes on for an hour and a half: lengthy, poor in action, unpsychological. [...] "The fourth man" is the purest evening before: any, ambitious, washable. "
