Steffen Schroeder (born April 16, 1974 in Munich ) is a German actor and writer .

Life

Schroeder had his first television appearance in 1994 on Police Call 110 Saturdays when there is war . From 1995 to 1996 he studied acting at the Folkwang Hochschule in Essen . At the same time, he played the first leading roles on television in Ausgerastet (director: Hanno Brühl ) and in the film And nobody cries after me (director: Joseph Vilsmaier ).

In 1996 he made his theater debut at the Schauspielhaus Wien , in 1997 he became a permanent member of the ensemble at the Vienna Burgtheater . Here he made his debut in the role of Harold in Harold and Maude , the play was played four seasons. In 1999 he followed artistic director Claus Peymann to the Berliner Ensemble , of which he was a permanent member until 2001. Since 2001 Schroeder has played as a freelance actor in the films The Red Baron , Keinohrhasen , TV plays and series, as well as at the Cologne Theater and the Berliner Ensemble. Since 2012 he has been part of the permanent team of investigators in the ZDF crime series SOKO Leipzig as chief detective Tom Kowalski. In May 2020, Schroeder announced that he was leaving the series.

He has been an ambassador for the White Ring since 2015 , primarily in public relations. He appeared as a speaker at the German Prevention Day, organized numerous readings for the benefit of the association and moderated the 2019 Journalist Prize awarded by the White Ring in Hamburg. With a poster campaign, he supports the aid organization for victims of crime and promotes strengthening the rights and protection of victims in Germany.

In 2017, Schroeder was appointed ambassador for his work against right-wing extremism by the organization EXIT-Germany .

In 2017 his first book Was alles can be in a person was published. Encounter with a murderer at Rowohlt Berlin Verlag . In 2020 his debut novel Mein Sommer mit Anja was published, also by Rowohlt Berlin Verlag .

In May 2020, Steffen Schroeder was elected to the media council of the state of Berlin-Brandenburg by the Brandenburg state parliament .

Schroeder has lived in Potsdam with his wife, actress Ute Springer, and their three sons since 2006 .
