Marco Girnth (born February 10, 1970 in Düsseldorf ) is a German actor .

Life

Marco Girnth grew up in the Norf district of Neuss and attended the Norbert grammar school in Knechtsteden . Girnth studied law in Cologne after high school and community service . He completed his studies with the first state examination. Girnth was still working in extras and supporting roles in television productions when he was still at school . In 1995, the Cologne employment office gave him an extra role in the RTL series Unter uns . Two months later he was offered the role of Sven Rusinek in the series, which he played until 1997. This was followed by roles in television series ( Gegen den Wind , Die Strandclique , Das Traumschiff , Berlin, Berlin ) and numerous roles in television films (such as Abyss - a city falls down ). For the portrayal of Max in Günter Knarr's feature film Holgi - The Badest Boy in the World , Girnth received the Max Ophüls Prize for the best young actor in 2000 . Since 2001 he has been working as Chief Detective Jan Maybach in the ZDF crime series SOKO Leipzig .

Girnth has been married to actress Katja Woywood since August 1998 . The couple lives in Berlin and has a son. Girnth played a guest role in three episodes of the RTL series Alarm für Cobra 11 - Die Autobahnpolizei , in which Katja Woywood, as head of the Autobahn Police, is one of the regular cast.

Marco Girnth has been the patron of the "Hope Donations" association since 2010. V. There he works for street children and residents of the slums in Uganda . In 2015 he traveled to the country and helped with the work on site.

Marco Girnth has a younger and an older sister.
