Andreas Schmidt-Schaller
Andreas Schmidt-Schaller (born October 30, 1945 in Arnstadt ) is a German actor . He began his career at the theater and gained in the 1980s reputation as an unconventional investigator in the crime series Polizeiruf 110 of the GDR -Fernsehens. After numerous other television roles, he was from 2001 to 2017 as chief investigator and chief inspector Hajo Trautzschke in the ZDF crime series SOKO Leipzig .

Education and theater years
Andreas Schmidt-Schaller grew up in Weimar and then in Gera , where he graduated from Goethe-EOS in 1964 . He came to acting through a school project for the FDJ cultural competition and a job as a stage worker at the Gera Theater . After studying acting at the Leipzig Theater School from 1965 to 1969 , he was initially engaged at the Karl-Marx-Stadt Municipal Theater .
During his acting training, Schmidt-Schaller was recruited by the Ministry for State Security in 1967 , to whom he provided information about the Leipzig Theater Academy and the Karl-Marx-Stadt Theater as " IM Jochen" (registration number XIII 318/67). In 1971 he ended the collaboration when he was asked to report personal things about his fellow actors.
In Karl-Marx-Stadt, Peter Sodann was one of his directors. Schmidt-Schaller followed this to Magdeburg in 1975, where Sodan received the post of theater director at the municipal theaters . When Schmidt-Schaller left the Magdeburg theater in 1980, he went to Berlin as a freelance actor.
From 1980 to 1983 Schmidt-Schaller also staged plays himself, including a. The shoemaker and the rooster at the Neustrelitz and Jutta theater or The children of Damutz at the Gera theater.
Police call 110
Schmidt-Schaller was first seen in 1973 in a film produced for the TV series Polizeiruf 110 : He played a suspect in Alarm am See . After a few more episodic roles in the 1980s, he took on the recurring role of Lieutenant Thomas Grawe in the most important crime series on GDR television with the case A great talent broadcast in 1986 . As a young man in addition to the seasoned police investigators Hauptmann Fuchs ( Peter Borgelt ) and Lieutenant Hübner ( Jürgen Frohriep ), Grawe was able to distinguish himself as a young, likeable lieutenant and quickly became a crowd favorite. In contrast to his superiors, Grawe was allowed a private life. In the episode The Crossword Puzzle Case (1988) Grawe was promoted to first lieutenant, after the fall of the Wall he carried the new People's Police rank High Commissioner in Ball of Lonely Hearts in September 1990 .
As the East German counterpart to the unconventional Tatort Commissioner Schimanski , Schmidt-Schaller was given the nickname Schimanski of the East . In the film Unter Brüdern , the joint episode of Polizeiruf 110 with the West German crime scene , produced in 1990 on the occasion of German reunification , Schmidt-Schallers investigated Grawe and Götz Georges Schimanski together.
After the end of television in the GDR and its successor institution, Deutscher Fernsehfunk , the Polizeiruf 110 series also ended in 1991 for the time being . When ARD continued the series, Schmidt-Schaller returned to the screen as the main investigator for two episodes in 1994. With Grrawe's last case , he left the series in 1995 and later only had a few guest appearances. In 2001 he was one of the actors in the Kurschatten anniversary episode, and in 2004, in the episode A Picture of a Murderer, he briefly revived the character Thomas Grawe as a private detective. Between 1973 and 2004 he was seen in 40 Police Call 110 episodes. In the broadcast version of the Police Call episode, which was not completed in 1974, was found in 2009 without a soundtrack and broadcast in 2011, At the age of ... Post-turnaround time
Schmidt-Schaller worked on numerous other television productions before and after the fall of the Wall. In 1990 he played the leading role of river master Hans Lutki in the seven-part family series Spreewaldfamilie for German television radio . In 1992, in 16 episodes of the ARD series Oppen and Ehrlich , he played the industrialist Ottwin Ehrlich, who was in constant dispute with his adoptive brother, Mayor Hinrich Oppen ( Uwe Friedrichsen ). In addition to television work, Schmidt-Schaller continued to work for the theater. From 1993 to 1995 he directed the small theater in Gera, a puppet theater .
Schmidt-Schaller played the son of an Elbe ship portrayed by Dietmar Schönherr in Saxon Switzerland in the thirteen-part MDR series Leinen los for MS Königstein . In 1998, the ZDF feature film A Man Crashes showed him alongside Katrin Sass in the leading role of a respected master shipbuilder who is falling into a downward spiral due to unemployment. In the RTL action series Der Clown , for which a movie was released in 2005, he appeared from 1998 to 2001 as a BKA official Führmann.
From 2001 onwards, Schmidt-Schaller was regularly working as an investigator for public television : As Chief Detective Hajo Trautzschke, head of SOKO Leipzig , he played one of the leading roles in the ZDF series of the same name until 2017 . Since then, he has continued to make guest appearances on the series. In total, he has been seen in over 330 episodes so far.
Private
Schmidt-Schaller was married twice to the actress Christine Krüger , with whom he studied together, worked in the theater and has two children. At the age of 22, Schmidt-Schaller became the father of a son for the first time. His daughter Petra Schmidt-Schaller (* 1980) is also an actress. He appeared with her in the movie Balkan Traffic - The Day After Tomorrow Nirgendwo and in the SOKO Leipzig episodes Tödlichefallen (2003) and Bernie (2008) - both episodes were broadcast by ZDF on the day after his birthday. In 1982 Schmidt-Schaller's second son was born, the actor Tom Radisch . His youngest son Matti Schmidt-Schaller (* 1996), who also works as an actor, comes from his relationship with the director Swentja Krumscheidt .
In the book interview Über Gott und die Welt - Andreas Schmidt-Schaller in conversation with Horst Wörner , which was published in 2006 , he talks about his professional and private life for the first time, especially about his experiences during the GDR. He confessed to his work as an IM for the Stasi in the 1960s in February 2013, when he was confronted by the press with files found in the Jahn authority . The editors of the SOKO Leipzig series processed this and in 2015, starting with the episode Redemption, wrote a story about a Stasi past of the investigator for Chief Detective Trautzschke, played by Schmidt-Schaller. Schmidt-Schaller is a member of the German Film Academy as well as the Federal Drama Association (BFFS) and is a volunteer ambassador for the Children's Hospice Central Germany Nordhausen Foundation in Tambach-Dietharz.
