A picture of a murderer is a German crime film by Thomas Jacob from 2004. It is the 262nd episode in the film series Polizeiruf 110 and the 26th case for Schmücke and Schneider . Andreas Schmidt-Schaller has a guest appearance here as private detective Thomas Grawe.

action

Inspector Schmücke is currently looking for a flat when Lothar Michalke jumps to his death on the skyscraper opposite. Although Schmücke arrived on the roof on time, he could not prevent the suicide. The desperate family man saw no other way out after his wife wanted to leave him with the children. She found a photo of her husband making love with another woman .

Although Schmücke is still close to this family tragedy, he has a new case to deal with. The Freyburg winemaker Werner Braumüller was found dead near an old quarry. The circumstances of death are very mysterious. He was shot in the head with a crossbow . Picnic utensils suggest a rendezvous with a woman. This leads the inspectors Schmücke and Schneider to the Waldhotel Zur Mühle , where Braumüller had booked a double room and stayed with "his" wife. The commissioners quickly notice that Braumüller's picnic guest was not his wife, but a mistress. When they talk to Margot Braumüller about it, she admitted without further ado that she knew about her husband's love affairs.

Using Braumüller's cell phone connections, the investigators come across Eva Brenner, who, after briefly denying it, admits the affair with Braumüller. Brenner's husband is suspected of having killed his wife's lover. Since he was actually near the scene of the crime spying on his wife, that gets him into serious trouble. Especially since he has a sports shop where you can also buy a crossbow.

Unexpectedly, Schmücke receives a call from his former colleague Thomas Grawe, who now works as a private detective. He had learned of the murder of Braumüller and informed the commissioners that he was recently commissioned by Ms. Braumüller to monitor her husband. He also came across Eva Brenner, who had also secretly met with other men. When Schmücke and tailors follow up, they find out that Malte Brenner had “set” his wife on wealthy men. In this way he was able to take compromising photos, blackmail the affected men and thus improve his tense financial situation. Little do Schmücke and Schneider suspect that Brenner also succeeded in taking a picture in his photos that shows Braumüller's murderer in the old quarry. With this photo Brenner tries to blackmail the perpetrator and pays for this with his life. In the victim's laptop, the forensic scientist finds photos of Brenner's "customers", on which Fred Limbach, a friend of the Braumüller family, can be seen. When he was arrested, he admits that he shot Brenner because he wanted to blackmail him. He would have put the husband out of the way out of love for "his" Margot. She allegedly did not instigate him.

Margot Braumüller is the sole heir of the fortune and had to fear that her husband's last love affair was more serious than the others. In the event of a divorce, the marriage contract would leave her empty-handed.

Eve Brenner's customers included Lothar Michalke, among many others.
