Axel Donner

Axel Donner (born May 18, 1954 in Altdöbern ) is a German jazz pianist and composer who has emerged in the last few decades primarily through his film scores .

Life

Donner received his first piano lessons at the age of 6. From 1974 he studied classical piano and jazz piano at the “Hanns Eisler” University of Music in Berlin , but also composition / composition and arrangement. In addition, he first played in rock bands such as Express and New Generation . In 1977 Günther Fischer brought him into his sextet as keyboard player, where he stayed until 1984 and was also involved in record productions. Then he founded his own band with Thomas Klemm , Jens Saleh and Mario Würzebesser , but also performed as a soloist. He also worked in a duo with Uwe Kropinski and toured with Charlie Mariano , Toto Blanke , Manfred Schoof and Trilok Gurtu . From 1990 to 1992 he was part of the trio Wroblewsky-Donner-Klemm with Thomas Klemm and Pascal von Wroblewsky . Since 1992 he has focused on writing film music, especially for television.
