action

Gila Abt and Horst Fese own a construction company that also employs her husband Alfred. It has not escaped the notice that his wife has a relationship with her business partner. Gisela even wants to leave her husband, but he fears that Fese will only make her unhappy. Rumor has it that there will also be an adventure with Reni, a small employee. Alfred Abt does not want to give up his wife without a fight. He puts Fese under pressure and threatens to report tax evasion if he doesn't leave Gila alone.

The next day Fese uses his chance. When abbot stands too far from a window on the construction site, he pushes him down. Thereupon Fese is called by Reni Laube, who tells him that she had already seen him on the construction site before the accident and that his statement to the police was obviously a lie. The next day, Reni is found dead. Since it rained heavily during the night, no traces can be secured. However, there are connections with the accident in the construction company, because Reni was employed there and Brinkmann finds out that Fese had an affair with her.

Inspector Brinkmann speaks to Reni's friend Frank Sattler, who is massively suspicious and refuses to testify. He was last with her and has demonstrably had an argument with her. Although he is known to be very sensitive and introverted, he gets himself a gun and goes on a hunt for clues to find his girlfriend's murderer. Since he found out about the affair with Reni's boss, he thinks he is the culprit and shoots him without further ado. After he misses him, he lies in wait for him in an underground car park. There he threatens Fese, where he now gets scruples and does not shoot. In return, Fese draws his attention to a defective taillight on his father's car. He would have come across this car on the night of the murder while he was waiting for Reni and saw her get into this car.

On the basis of a statement, the showman Gustav Zach comes under suspicion, who is already on record and has a criminal record for assault. However, he cannot be further interrogated because he was hospitalized for another argument and dies there. There is evidence that incriminates the man so that he can seriously be considered as a murderer. But Brinkmann finds out that Frank's father had obviously manipulated the evidence to distract from his son. Thus Frank Sattler remains under suspicion. He now wants to confront his father as to why he had taken Reni with him in his car. He says that she missed her bus and that he just wanted to take her with him. Frank doesn't believe him and threatens to go to the police. He angrily gets on his motorcycle and ignores the right of way. He is seriously injured and taken to the hospital, where his father confesses to him that the attractive Reni had aroused him so much that he wanted to attack her. But she would have fought and hit a stone with her head. At the end of his confession, his son dies.

Gila Abt is gradually discovering that Fese killed her husband. There is even a witness who saw Fese thrust his rival into the depths. Brinkmann was informed and Horst Fese was arrested.
