Conrad Carl Theodor Ernst Döbbelin ( November 17, 1799 in Neubrandenburg - December 13, 1856 in Coburg ) was a German theater actor , director and director.

Life

Döbbelin, son of Conrad Carl Casimir Döbbelin and Auguste Feige already entered his father's stage as a child actor. However, at the request of his parents, he first had to attend a commercial school in Magdeburg for several years, as they wanted to train him as a businessman.

Nevertheless, this did not prevent him from making his debut in major roles with the German Society in Poznan in 1817. On his travels through Germany, Holland and Russia he gained more and more stage routine, and liked in comic and character roles. In 1821 his father died and he became his successor as head of the company.

From this the court theater in Koethen was formed , which he also headed as director. Although quite suitable for this profession, he preferred to accept an engagement with the Pichler Society in Bremen before 1823. However, in 1824 he left again and went on extensive art trips again. In 1826 he joined the Eberwein Society. With this he arrived in Gotha in 1827.

This is where his wanderlust ended, because he joined the newly founded Hofbühne Coburg-Gotha as an actor and later as a director. In 1838 he got a lifelong position on this stage.

Increasing sickness forced him to give up directing in 1844 and in 1851 he had to quit acting. He died on December 13, 1856 in Coburg.

He was married to Auguste Döbbelin .
