Johannes Terne (* 1951 in Neu Wiednitz , Hoyerswerda district , German Democratic Republic ) is a German actor .

Life

After graduating from high school, Johannes Terne completed a four-year acting course at the Leipzig Theater Academy . He received his first engagement at the Schauspielhaus Chemnitz . In the period that followed, Terne had theater engagements at the Berlin Volksbühne and the Berlin Schaubühne . He also played at the Schauspielhaus Bonn . Since 1990 he has been engaged as a guest at the Schauspielhaus in Vienna and the Volkstheater Vienna . At the Schauspielhaus Wien in 1992 he played the male lead in the world premiere of the play Ann Portugiese by Djuna Barnes . In 1996 Terne played Duke Vincentio in William Shakespeare's play Maß für Maß at the Volkstheater Wien .

Terne has been a permanent member of the Burgtheater Vienna ensemble since 1999 . Terne played a broad repertoire on the stage of the Burgtheater, ranging from works of the classical to the modern . He played, among others, Aegisth in Elektra von Sophokles , Georg von Waldstetten in Das Käthchen von Heilbronn , the burgrave Friedrich Zollern in King Ottokar's Glück und Ende , Kreon in Das Goldene Vlies (Grillparzer), Sir Amias Paulet in Maria Stuart , Monsieur Bonbon in Zu ground floor and first floor or The moods of happiness by Johann Nestroy and Le Bret in Cyrano de Bergerac by Edmond Rostand . He also appeared in various larger and smaller roles in plays by Edward Bond , Ödön von Horváth , Johann Wolfgang von Goethe , Gerhart Hauptmann and Anton Chekhov .

Terne worked as a theater actor with directors Andrea Breth , Martin Kušej , Stephan Kimmig , Anselm Weber and Joachim Schlömer , among others .

Between 1991 and 1999 Terne was a regular guest at the Deutsche Oper Berlin as Bassa Selim in Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Singspiel Die Entführung aus dem Serail . In this role he also appeared at the Stuttgart State Opera from 1998 to 2004 in a production of the Singspiel by Hans Neuenfels and also made a guest appearance at the 2003 Hong Kong Arts Festival with this production. Terne's interpretation of Bassa Selin was characterized in both productions by a strong physicality and erotic charisma, which made him an equal rival in favor of the kidnapped Konstanze.

From the mid-1980s, Terne also played regularly on German television. Terne took on continuous series roles, recurring episode roles and guest roles. Terne gained fame primarily through his continuous series role as Kriminalhauptkommissar Berg in the RTL crime series SK Babies . From February to December 2012 Terne was seen in the series lead role in Roman Winter in the ARD -Telenovela Rote Rosen .

Due to his attractive appearance on television, Terne was initially often used in the role of the superficial lover, often also the easygoing handsome and gigolo. Later he was mainly used in crime series and crime films, where he was often set on the role of the villain.

Terne also worked in a few short films and in some cinema productions . He had a leading role in 1990 in Michael Verhoeven's television game Schlaraffenland and in 1996 in the thriller The Cold Finger .

Terne also works as a reciter with literary programs. In his programs he reads from novels by Imre Kertész , William Gaddis , Tim Parks and Jon Fosse, among others .
