The television series Wildbach was broadcast for the first time on the ARD evening program between 1993 and 1997. The stories focus on the adventures of the local mountain rescue service and the everyday experiences of their relatives. Spectacular climbing activities, sensational rescue measures and lots of criminal cases create suspense. The name Wildbach stands for a fictional place somewhere between Bavaria and Tyrol, where the events are supposed to take place. In the series Garmisch-Partenkirchen is given as a close district town. The series was shot in Tyrol , especially in the Alpbachtal .
Framework story
The head of the mountain rescue service is Martin Kramer, who lives in a former farm and has an insatiable passion for electronics. Among other things, the inventor is working on a mountain navigation system, which he encountered with great resistance during the development. Conny Leitner, a somewhat reckless sports retailer, runs a shop in the valley. He often throws himself headlong into adventures and has to be brought back to his senses by his colleagues with a lot of good persuasion. Dr. Günther Hofer is the only doctor in town and is also active in the mountain rescue service. The bachelor keeps putting his hopes in the most diverse ladies, but does not get beyond superficial acquaintances.
Alois Angerer is the tenant of a gas station that he runs with his mother Erni. He is in a relationship with Inge, the plump saleswoman in Conny's sports shop. The young, good-looking Bernd Ferstl is a police officer and an avid mountaineer. His colleague, the squat Herbert Rechenbacher, holds the position in the valley, unlike the others he is not a "mountain watchman". Emmeran Nahaider is a mountain host and works on a voluntary basis in the mountain rescue operations center. The hotel owner Christl Meierhofer is close friends with Martin and has to cope with the loss of one of her two sons. When she is offered the post of UN ambassador, she leaves Wildbach and moves to Geneva.
Martin Kramer has two roommates: his enterprising daughter Lissi Kramer, who is at the beginning of the series, and the young journalist Michaela Sommer, the daughter of an old love, who arrives after Lissi's "departure" from Australia and makes her home in Wildbach. Both women have a relationship with Conny, who, however, constantly proves to be a serious painter and is prone to affair. Michi works for the regional daily newspaper and unearths many a scandal. Her mother Helen, an old friend of Martin, follows her after a while; she too is traveling from her adopted Australian home. Helen gets closer to Martin again and opens a bistro in an old mountain hut. The unsuspecting Michaela is suddenly confronted with the fact that Martin is really her father.
The native Franz Hamberger is responsible for the Wildbach branch as a member of the mountain rescue committee. Wherever he can, he makes himself important and confronts the mountain watchmen with a fait accompli. Martin in particular is usually not taken with his plans, but Hamberger knows better than anyone how to let his charm play out. With a special task force, which is supposed to advance the mountain rescue technically, he suffers a serious shipwreck. Hamberger appears regularly at the Kramerhof and lets himself be pampered by Helen's delicacies. His son Tobi is a junior member of the mountain rescue service and is full of energy. The lively head of the tourist office, Eva Neureuther, is a good friend of Martin and is on site for all occasions.
The men from the mountain rescue have to prove themselves in many exciting episodes, in which it is often a matter of life and death. Despite everything, the series is spiced with a strong dash of Bavarian humor and does not lack a cheerful down-to-earth attitude.
background
Almost all episodes of the TV series Wildbach were shot in Alpbach and Reith im Alpbachtal . Since many of the locals also played as extras , an active fan club developed, the "torrent fans" regularly published news about the series and the location. Accordingly, the filming locations were also exploited for tourism and hikes and sightseeing were offered. Stephan Massimo composed the title song Free and Easy and was sung by Stan Bush .
