Life

Karl-Heinz von Hassel completed a business training course and took acting lessons at the same time. From 1960 he had engagements at various theaters. From 1966 he was seen regularly on television. Under Rainer Werner Fassbinder he also took part in several feature films. As a role type, the tall von Hassel repeatedly embodied officers, but also often found himself occupied in the role of industrial worker. Karl-Heinz von Hassel died on the night of April 19, 2016 at the age of 77 after a brief serious illness in Hamburg. He rests in the Ohlsdorf cemetery in his hometown. Karl-Heinz von Hassel had been married to his wife Karin since 1963. Their son works as an orchestral drummer. Karin von Hassel (1936–2018) was buried with her husband.

Crime scene inspector Brinkmann

After he had already worked as a perpetrator, victim or assistant in the ARD series Tatort in the 1970s , von Hassel took over as Commissioner Edgar Brinkmann the investigative role at the Hessischer Rundfunk at the crime scene Frankfurt am Main on October 13, 1985 . A total of 28 episodes were produced with this character by September 16, 2001.

As a fly-wearing, somewhat stiff-looking Inspector Brinkmann, he was more of the classic interrogation specialist and desk worker in contrast to action-oriented investigators like Götz George or Klaus J. Behrendt . In the last few years as a commissioner, the stiff posture of Hassels was justified with severe back pain from which Brinkmann suffered.
