In the Forecourt of Truth is a television film by Fritz Umgelter from 1974. The actors include Gerhard Acktun , Matthias Habich and Gertraud Jesserer .

The television film is based on the experiences of a Czech who suffered bad things as a child on the Eastern Front of World War II . In the post-war period he stayed in Germany as a teenager and took part in black market deals and found himself in a criminal environment. Because of his own misconduct, he has repeated problems with the judiciary.

The screenplay by Johannes Hendrich is based on tape recordings of the Czech prisoner Jaroslav Wedrich in Berlin-Tegel, who was sentenced to five years in prison for manslaughter because he shot a person in a shootout between two opposing pimp groups in Berlin in June 1970 .
