Anyone who eats out of the tin bowl is a three-piece by Fritz Umgelter . Klaus Kammer plays the main role of the former prisoner Kufalt.

Two years after the world success Little Man - what now? Hans Fallada wrote the novel Whoever Eats Out of a Tin Bowl (1934). The novel, and thus also the film, shows clear parallels to Fallada's life. Fallada's experiences, which he had witnessed in the Neumünster prison, appear in the film .

action

The accountant Willi Kufalt has to go to prison for five years. Without a family, he then ended up in a Hamburg welfare home. But there he is exploited and at first cannot find an apartment. Only when he conceals his imprisonment does he manage to find an apartment.

After many rejections from society, he found a job as a subscriber for a local newspaper in a small town. He builds up a new life and finds Hilde, a good woman from Hamburg. But the past catches up with him and he is accused of theft. He is jailed for his criminal record but is released. Now he leaves Hilde and no longer thinks about a life without crime. He wants to steal jewels with the crook Batzke. But this refuses, but then makes the coup on his own. Kufalt now demands his share, but Batzke overpowers him without further ado. Kufalt is now forced to steal from his good landlady. Eventually he is caught and goes to prison again. But he is happy about that now.
