Life

Hartmann began his artistic career shortly after the Second World War in the north and west of Germany; occupied is z. B. an engagement as Heinz Georg Hartmann in the season 1947/48 at the city theater of the Westphalian Plettenberg . After a commitment to the Feuchtwang Kreuzgangspiele , he founded his own stage in Rothenburg ob der Tauber in 1953 . In Vienna , where he made his film debut in a small role in 1955, he also directed and even appeared at the Burgtheater .

Since his role as the Russian Semjon in Fritz Umgelter's multi-part television series So Far den Fußführung , a film adaptation of Josef Martin Bauer 's novel of the same name, Georg Hartmann has been in front of the camera regularly, often under Umgelter's direction. While his appearances in movies are sporadic in nature, Hartmann could be seen in an abundance of television plays for the next twenty years. Due to his rather coarse, unglamorous appearance, the actor was mostly committed to solid, gnarled and straightforward, sometimes extremely tough types. These were often supporting supporting roles, in individual productions as well as as a guest in a considerable number of series. Hartmann's range of roles encompassed the entire range of characters: he embodied simple types such as farmers, sergeants and taxi drivers, but also high-ranking personalities such as marshals, nobles and majors.

After the end of his television career, Hartmann returned to the theater and played again in Vienna, this time at the Theater in der Josefstadt .
