Orden für die Wunderkinder is a German television film from 1963 in which Rainer Erler caricatured the obsession with religious orders in the young Federal Republic .

action

Upper Government Council a. D. Ferdinand Ziegler is enjoying his old age in the senior citizens' home. When a roommate asks him about his Federal Cross of Merit, he tells her about his strange career. Actually a marriage swindler by profession, he can no longer succeed at the age of 60 after his release from prison. But he makes use of the longing for the order of the fellow citizens who came to wealth and prestige during the economic miracle . Ziegler procures false stamps, papers and certificates, opens a secret account as an alleged councilor and informs numerous beneficiaries of the economic miracle that they have "been awarded the First Class Cross of Merit for their selfless work for the people and the state". The contribution towards expenses of DM 750 for the award ceremony requested in the same letter enables Ziegler to live a comfortable life. Ziegler established himself in the ministerial bureaucracy, and when he was finally discovered, he was not only appointed a real senior councilor (with immediate retirement), in order to avoid the scandal, but also confirmed all of his medals.

criticism

“Amusing parody of the vanity of affluent society and the narrow-mindedness of the bureaucrats; In parts too overdriven, the film still makes you think. "
