Hannes Nikel

Johannes Maria Bernhard Nikel (born April 13, 1931 in Munich , Bavaria ; † September 26, 2001 there ) was a German film editor who was nominated for an Oscar in 1983 for his cut on the film drama Das Boot .

Life

After Hannes Nikel, who was born in Munich, independently edited the fantasy film Wandering of Souls for the first time in 1962 , he worked for German television for years before he was entrusted with the rogue comedy The Diamond Prince in 1967 and the literary film adaptation of The Sweet Time with Kalimagdora for the first time as an editor for international productions . In 1977 he made his cinema debut with the editing of Wolfgang Petersen's film drama Die Konsequenz , thus continuing a longstanding collaboration. It was also Petersen's movie Das Boot , with which Nikel won the greatest success of his career, an Oscar nomination in the category “Best Editing” .
