The children's film was released in German cinemas on March 24, 1988 and was distributed by United International Pictures. The film was released on video on December 14, 1988, followed by DVD release on June 6, 2005.

When Noah fulfills his assignment to build an ark for each pair of all living beings, unexpected incidents occur. The ark begins to crumble and accidents occur. Holzwurm Willi and his family are quickly suspected of having an appetite on the ark, especially since it was built from the wood of the cedar tree he lived in. Willi, on the other hand, protests his innocence and tries, together with his family, to determine the actual perpetrator. You discover that the termites are the real culprits. You will be convicted so that the ark will be saved. Then everyone celebrates a big party.
Production and publication
The companies MS-Films, Paramount Filmproduction, Artemis Film and the Second German Television were involved in the production. Boris von Borresholm took over the artistic direction. Celebrity Home Entertainment released an English version in 1990 under the title Stowaways on the Ark on VHS in the USA. The film was also released in Poland as Arka Noego .
