The Iyuno Germany GmbH (2020: Berliner Synchron GmbH until 2014: Berliner Synchron AG ) is the largest and one of the oldest German synchronous company . It was founded on October 14, 1949 by Wenzel Lüdecke in Berlin-Lankwitz , where it was based until the move to Berlin-Schöneberg in spring 2017. In 1987 Lüdecke handed over the management to his son Wolfram, who held it until the takeover by the S&L Medien Gruppe .

In its history, Berliner Synchron has produced more than 8,000 German-language film versions , including productions such as The Third Man , Psycho , The Godfather , all Star Wars films, Schindler's List , Forrest Gump , American Beauty and Gladiator . The main building on Lankwitzer Mühlenstrasse was the former main film station of the Luftwaffe, built in 1938, which was used by the Mosaik-Film company as a photocopying facility after the Second World War . Wenzel Lüdecke rented a room here and took over the entire complex in 1974.

In 1972, Berliner Synchron and the Kirch Group founded the Arena Synchron , which was located in the same building until 1997 and mainly dubbed television series for the Kirch Group. In addition to cinema and television dubbing, the company is now also active in the corporate media sector.

Berliner Synchron GmbH was spun off from the listed Berliner Synchron AG, which was renamed Cinemedia AG and served as a holding company for Berliner Synchron, Akademie der Medien Berlin and Edition M TV Produktion GmbH . In August 2016 Berliner Synchron was taken over by the S&L Medien Gruppe , Munich; at the same time Wolfram Lüdecke retired. In November 2018, the S&L Medien Group sold its shares to the Swedish BTI Studios . BTI Studios has been part of the IYUNO Media Group since autumn 2019 . The IYUNO Media Group's main investors are Altor , SoftBank Ventures Asia and Shamrock Capital (investment arm of the descendants of Roy E. Disney ).

Berliner Synchron currently employs over 60 permanent employees and more than 3000 dubbing actors, directors and authors. It has eight recording studios and three mixing studios in which more than 100 films and series are dubbed annually. After more than 60 years, the historic property in Berlin-Lankwitz was sold in 2015 and the company moved to a new location in Berlin-Schöneberg in spring 2017 .
