Maria-Theresia von Seidlein (born October 31, 1957 in Munich ) is a German journalist and entrepreneur.

Life

Maria-Theresia von Seidlein's parents are the architect Peter Canisius von Seidlein (1925–2014) and Karen von Seidlein (née Schöningh, 1930–2003). The publicist and co-founder of the Süddeutsche Zeitung (SZ), Franz Josef Schöningh , is her maternal grandfather. Von Seidlein has two younger brothers. She is the mother of three sons.

In 2013, Maria-Theresia von Seidlein and her brothers published a biography of their grandfather Franz Josef Schöningh . a. dealt with his role in National Socialism.

After graduating from high school, Seidlein began studying history and political science at LMU Munich in 1977 . During her studies, she completed two internships at the Munich newspaper Abendzeitung . 1979/80 von Seidlein studied in Florence at the Università di Firenze . In 1981 she completed her studies at the LMU with a Magister Artium.

After completing her studies, Maria-Theresia von Seidlein's path led to journalism. She did an internship at Bayerischer Rundfunk in the radio and television department before traveling to Atlanta in September 1981 to work as an intern at CNN . In the USA, von Seidlein gained his first experience in private television. In 1982 she returned to her hometown of Munich and accepted a position as an assistant in the Association of Bavarian Newspaper Publishers, before joining the radio station Neue Welle Bayern in March 1983 as a partner and editor.

With the help of her father and the entrepreneur Gunther Oschmann , von Seidlein bought the radio station Radio M1 in 1984 and became Germany's youngest radio director. The target group were young listeners who were to be reached with a program of rock and live music, sports reports and interviews. Maria-Theresia von Seidlein built Radio M1 into one of the most successful private radio stations in Munich. She sold her shares in Radio M1 to Gunther Oschmann.

From 1990 to 1992 Maria-Theresa von Seidlein worked for Die Welt am Sonntag and as a TV editor for Inside Bunte at RTL .

Together with Georg von Langsdorff, Maria-Theresia von Seidlein founded the company S&L Medienproduktion GmbH in 1992. Both held 50 percent of the shares. S&L Medienproduktion GmbH initially produced films and making-ofs for German television stations. In the years that followed, von Seidlein and von Langsdorff gradually expanded their company's business area in the cinema, film and event marketing sector. Just four years after it was founded, S&L Medienproduktion GmbH expanded for the first time when it launched Movie Data GmbH & Co. KG. In 2000, S&L Media-networx GmbH was founded and S&L Live GmbH was founded five years later.

In 2000, von Seidlein also took over the post of partner at Süddeutscher Verlag . She represented the interests of the von Seidlein family, who held 23.1 percent of the publisher's shares. During this time the publishing house was restructured. In 2007 four of the five shareholder families, including the von Seidlein family, sold their shares to Südwestdeutsche Medienholding . After the sale, she withdrew from the publishing business.

In 2008 Maria-Theresia von Seidlein ended her job as managing director of S&L Medienproduktion after 16 years. After two years, however, she returned in 2010 and took over the company completely (100 percent of the shares). In 2011, S&L Medienproduktion GmbH was converted into a holding company and was named S&L Medien Gruppe GmbH. Further subsidiaries were added. von Seidlein leads the company as managing partner.

At the same time, Maria-Theresia von Seidlein worked in the real estate industry, with new constructions and renovations of listed buildings in the cities of Berlin and Munich.

Volunteering

Maria-Theresia von Seidlein is involved in the Bavarian FDP and currently holds the office of treasurer in the FDP local branch in Grünwald. She was also treasurer of the FDP district executive in Munich Land. She was also a member of the women's advisory board of Hypovereinsbank and head of the “HBV female entrepreneur mentoring” program.
