Santiago Ziesmer (born July 25, 1953 in Madrid , Spain ) is a German actor , dubbing and radio play speaker , singer and web video producer of Spanish origin. He has been involved in television productions and commercial radio play recordings since early youth, and has appeared as a theater actor on numerous state and private theaters in Germany and other European countries since 1973. His voice is best known for the dubbing of comedic characters like Jaleel White as Steve Urkel in the US sitcom All Under One Roof and cartoon characters like SpongeBob SquarePants in the children's and youth series of the same name. Since Barton Fink (1991), Ziesmer has often been used as the German-language dubbing voice for Steve Buscemi . He lives in Berlin .

Youth and education

The son of a German mother and a Spanish father was born in Madrid as the youngest of three children. In 1954 the family moved to West Berlin . There Ziesmer sang in the state and cathedral choir and was trained in standard dance. Discovered in 1963 by director Herbert Ballmann , who was looking for child actors in Berlin schools, Ziesmer took over at the age of ten in the Zenit film production Alle Loks Whistle for Jan, alongside Margot Trooger, his first leading TV role as a paralyzed boy.
