The voles is a cabaret - stage with the same name Ensemble , which in December 1960 by Dieter Hallervorden with Wilfried Herbst and some other fellow actors in Berlin was founded. Since the move to a house acquired by Hallervorden with a two-level theater hall with a total of 516 seats, the venue has been operating as the “New Berlin Cabaret Theater” in addition to its own name.

history

ensemble

The name for the cabaret ensemble Die Wühlmäuse as well as for the venue was a mouse that sat on a piano for a while during a rehearsal. The ensemble was founded at the end of 1960 together with other actors from Wilfried Herbst and Dieter Hallervorden, who was at the same time the "landlord" or manager of the theater and is still today. In 1966 Die Wühlmäuse introduced a cabaret program with continuous roles and a storyline or basic theme that stretched over the evening, in contrast to the form of individual scenes that had previously been conventional in cabaret (author: Heio Müller ). When Dieter Hallervorden developed his Didi figure in the 1970s and the non-stop nonsense programs were created based on this, the ensemble was disbanded.
The ensemble, whose gradually changing formations cannot currently be documented in detail, included: Rolf Bauer , Käte Jaenicke , Joachim Kemmer , Dieter Kursawe , Hans-Rainer Müller , Rotraud Schindler , Kurt Schmidtchen , Helen Vita and Alexander Welbat ( Director).

It wasn't until 2017 that the house again had its own ensemble, which included Mathias Harrebye-Brandt , Robert Louis Griesbach , Santina Maria Schrader and Birthe Wolter .

Venue

Cabaret theater Die Wühlmäuse on Theodor-Heuss-Platz (2012)

The cabaret stage “Die Wühlmäuse” had its first domicile from 1960 in parts of the former Scala building in Berlin-Schöneberg in Martin-Luther-Str. 12-14. In the mid-1960s, the company moved to the much larger premises of the Theater an der Lietzenburger . Due to rising rents, Hallervorden decided to move again 40 years after it was founded and acquired the former Summit House (formerly Amerikahaus ) on Theodor-Heuss-Platz in Berlin-Westend , in which he set up a two-level theater hall with a total of 516 seats. Since then, the name of the cabaret stage has been displayed vertically over the entire facade side above the entrance area and on the roof edge of the facade side to the right of it in illuminated letters with a mouse logo. Above the entrance area, the venue is named “New Berlin Cabaret Theater”.

"Die Wühlmäuse" have been and have been a regular guest performance venue for numerous renowned cabaret artists and comedians such as u. a .: Jürgen Becker , Martin Buchholz , Rainald Grebe , Romy Haag , Gernot Hassknecht , Marlene Jaschke , Bruno Jonas , Irmgard Knef , Frank Lüdecke , Dieter Nuhr , Sissi Perlinger , Urban Priol , Arnulf Rating , Hagen Rether , Andreas Rebers , Mathias Richling , Richard Rogler , Simone Solga , Georg Schramm , Horst Schroth and Nessi Tausendschön .

The big cabaret festival has been held in the house every year since 2001, as well as the award ceremony of the German Cabaret League since 2011 and every two months since 2006 "Seven in one go", where both well-known and unknown cabaret artists can introduce themselves.
