Ulrich Michael Heissig , known as Irmgard Knef (born February 22, 1965 in Sindelfingen ), is a German author , actor , chansonnier and cabaret artist .

Life

He passed his Abitur in Böblingen . In 1987 he became an assistant director at several German theaters, for example in Bremen and Hamburg . In 1988 he got a permanent position as assistant director, evening play director and actor on the stages of the Hanseatic city of Lübeck with productions in the field of children's and youth theater .

From 1991 to 1997 he was a freelance director at the Theater der Altstadt Stuttgart , the Stadttheater St. Gallen , the Meininger State Theater and in Berlin, among others .

Heissig completed basic musical training, took cello and singing lessons and was a member of various choirs and orchestras. He is the author of numerous chanson texts as well as the musical revue "Orpheus in the Uni-Welt" - a commissioned work on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Free University of Berlin . In 2010 he wrote the musical Humboldt together with the composer Thomas Zaufke ! A musical for Alexander von ... (Premiere September 30, 2010 Fontanehaus, Berlin-Reinickendorf / performers of the Reinickendorf Music School).

He studied political science at the Otto Suhr Institute of the Free University of Berlin and media studies at the TU Berlin . In 1998 he wrote his diploma thesis on a theater parody by cabaret artist Georg Kreisler on Max Frisch'sAndorra ”.

As the founder of the "Freie Jugendtheater Böblingen", a 50-member ensemble consisting of teachers, pupils and students, he performed Luise Rinser's "Ich President" in 1986 with great public interest in the presence of the then 75-year-old author.

In 1996 he made his first in the subcultural scene in Kreuzberg with the figure Irmgard Knef on which the fictional twin sister and the alter ego of Hildegard Knef is cabaret. With this role he portrays the sister, who is persecuted by bad luck both humanly and artistically, who is thus a mouthpiece for all eternally second. He stages an illusion of the twin sister, in which the appearance and demeanor of the late Hildegard Knef (as we know her from talk show appearances, for example) serves as a character model. Heissig has been performing in this role since 1999 in Germany, Switzerland, Austria and South Tyrol with the programs “Ich, Irmgard Knef” (1999), “Schwesterseelenallein” (2002) and “Die last Mohikanerin” (2005) and “Himmlisch! -Ewigkeit” knows no mercy ”(2008). He is also involved in various AIDS projects across Europe .

In 2001 he received the “Sprungbrett” cabaret award from the Handelsblatt in the Düsseldorfer Kom (m) ödchen. In January 2005 Heissig received the German Cabaret Prize (special prize of the Nuremberg Burgtheater 2004).

Together with Thomas Zaufke , Heissig wrote the musical Humboldt! A musical for Alexander von… about Alexander von Humboldt , which premiered on September 30, 2010 in the Fontane House in Berlin . In 2013, Zaufke and Heissig followed up with the musical comedy Wagner's thing with the ring , based on Richard Wagner's opera cycle Der Ring des Nibelungen . The world premiere was on October 26, 2013 in the Leipzig Opera House .

Heissig lives in Berlin and Vienna .
