Alone Against the Future is an American television series penned by Ian Abrams , Bob Brush , Deborah Joy LeVine , Patrick Q. Page and Vic Rubenfeld . It was first broadcast on September 28, 1996 by CBS . The last episode aired in the United States on May 27, 2000.

In Germany you could see the series on ProSieben , VOX and later on Sat.1 and Tele 5 , but also on pay TV on DF1 and Premiere World . Sat.1 showed the fourth and final season as a free TV premiere in 2002 .

The series is about a Chicago stockbroker named Gary Hobson ( Kyle Chandler ) who gets the newspaper ( Chicago Sun-Times ) from a red cat every day the following day. Using the headlines, he tries to prevent future accidents and disasters and thus save human lives. At his side are his greedy friend Chuck Fishman (who keeps trying to win the lottery) and the blind secretary Marissa Clark with her dog Spike.

DVD appearances

On June 24, 2008, the first season with all 23 episodes was released on six DVDs in the USA. As bonus material there are promo videos of the episodes. Paramount released the second season on July 28, 2009 with no bonus material.
