The Chicago Sun-Times is an American daily newspaper from Chicago , Illinois . Compared to its main competitor, the Chicago Tribune , it is more focused on city life. She is politically to the left of the Chicago Tribune . She became known for her investigative journalism as she uncovered many scandals in Chicago. According to the Audit Bureau of Circulations, it has a working day sold circulation of 389,353, a Saturday of 239,368 and a Sunday of 400,506 copies.

The Chicago Sun-Times , with its striking headlines, is in the style of a tabloid and has a tabloid format that can also be easily read on public transport. Columnist Roger Ebert was a film reviewer for the Chicago Sun-Times and Mike Royko was a political columnist.

The Chicago Sun-Times went in 1948 from a merger of the Chicago Times to the Chicago Sun produces. It was owned by Field Enterprises until 1984, News Corporation from 1984 to 1986 , The Sun-Times Company Inc. from 1986 to 1994 (an investor group of Adler & Shaykin , Equitable Capital Management Corp. , Robert Page (editor of the newspaper from 1984 to 1988), Donald Piazza ) and from 1994 to 2009 by Hollinger International . The newspaper company changed its name to the Sun-Times Media Group under Hollinger International .

On 31 March 2009, the publisher applied for creditor protection under Chapter 11 . Thereupon a group of investors around the Chicago entrepreneur James C. Tyree acquired the group of companies.

At the end of May 2013, all employed photographers were fired. The reason for the layoffs was that online readership increased demand for video content, which necessitated restructuring. The Sun-Times announced that in addition to the writing reporters, freelancers on site would in future provide the photo and video material.

In the media
