Charles Rettinghaus (born May 24, 1962 in Remagen ) is a German voice actor , actor, and audio book and radio play speaker .
Career
Rettinghaus is a trained bridge builder and attended an acting school.
His voice was first known for dubbing LeVar Burton ( Geordi La Forge ) in Starship Enterprise: The Next Century . He also dubbed other African-Americans with Harold Perrineau Jr. in Lost and in Matrix Reloaded , Victor Williams (Deacon Palmer) in King of Queens and Michael Beach in Third Watch - Operation at the Limit . The film actors he has dubbed include Jamie Foxx , Billy Zane , Jean-Claude Van Damme and Robert Downey Jr. In the anime Detective Conan , Rettinghaus could be heard as Genta Kojima , where he was replaced after three seasons by Michael Iwannek . His voice can also be heard in numerous German commercials, including for Media Markt , McDonald’s , the Green Dot , Opel and TV Movie . He also participated in the non-profit project of the German translation of Loose Change .
He also worked as Xanti in the children's radio play series of the same name and as the first voice of Holger Martin in Bibi and Tina . On June 23, 2014, the German rapper Eko Fresh published the 58-minute freetrack 1000 Bars on its YouTube channel , on which Rettinghaus speaks.
