action

The prologue shows a remote village, millions of years in the past, in the home galaxy of the Ori. Several Alterans discuss the use of a weapon there.

Afterwards SG-1 finds an ark on the destroyed Dakara in the present when they are attacked by the Ori. The ark should be able to convince every follower of the Ori that they are false gods. It later turns out that it's not the real ark. After a brief firefight, they lay down their weapons at the behest of Tomin, the leader of the Ori soldiers. Contrary to Tomin's promise, the arriving prior orders SG-1 to be killed. But the prior is powerless because of the anti-priority weapon the SG-1 team has with them. When Tomin resists, Mitchell kills the prior.

Back on earth , Tomin joins the humans. James Marrick from IOA oversight insists on interrogating Tomin personally, which Mitchell expresses displeasure with. When Daniel Jackson and Vala Mal bring Doran Tomin up to date, Tomin mentions the place Ortus Mallum , which according to the Ori is said to be the birthplace of all evil. Based on this description of the Ori, the team suspects that there is a powerful weapon there with which to fight the Ori.

Again in the past, one sees the escape of the Alterans and the destruction of the Ortus Mallum. They decided not to use the drawer because of their way of thinking.

In the present, Samantha Carter is discussing a plan to destroy the Super Gate when Daniel Jackson walks in and says the Ark is still in the Ori Galaxy. When the mission is approved, SG-1 flies the spaceship USS Odyssey to the Supertor and from there into the Ori galaxy.

Once there, a supporter of the Ori resistance leads them to the planet on which Celestis (the capital of the Ori) lies. While SG-1 searches the surface of the planet for clues to the Ark, Marrick gains access to the Odyssey's Asgard core and activates it. While Mitchell and Carter go to Marrick's on the Odyssey, Teal'c , Daniel, Vala and Tomin continue to search for the ark.

Meanwhile, a replicator created by Marrick breaks out on the Odyssey . The IOA's plan was to infect the Ori ships with replicators . Marrick is locked in a cell on the ship. The Odyssey team begins searching the ship for the replicator and Carter tries to find the order to self-destruct the replicators. The attempt to beam Daniel, Vala, Teal'c and Tomin onto the ship fails because the replicator has already taken control of the ship's computer. You then continue to search for the drawer.

The Earth, meanwhile, will be visited by a Prior, which her to task wants to move.

When Daniel and the others discover the ark, the Odyssey is surrounded by four Ori mother ships. The Odyssey jumps into hyperspace to avoid the ships and leaves the four on the planet. These are then attacked by Ori troops and Teal'c is wounded.

Marrick is attacked by replicators in his cell, and Teal'c wakes up alone in the dark on the planet. He begins to run alone to Celestis, where Tomin, Vala and Daniel are held captive by the priors.

Meanwhile, Mitchell discovers the Queen of Replicators on the ship. He places an explosive charge before being discovered by Marrick, who is now controlled by a replicator that has attached itself to his body. Carter continues to search for the shutdown code while the replicators launch an attack on the Asgard core.

Meanwhile, in Celestis, Vala meets her former daughter Adria, who has taken on the role of Ori after she was promoted. Teal'c collapses at the gates of Celestis, but is healed by an ascended ancient. At that moment Adria breaks off her conversation with Vala and disappears. Meanwhile, Marrick and Mitchell continue fighting on the Odyssey.

When the news of seven Orim Motherships approaching arrives on Earth, the Odyssey in the Ori galaxy is falling out of hyperspace as the replicators have regained control. Ori ships immediately reappear, firing at the Odyssey. Mitchell manages to briefly sever the connection between Marrick and the replicator. Marrick reveals that the code to destroy the Replicators is on the back of the crystal he used to create them.

In Celestis, Merlin reveals himself from Daniel's visions as Morgan Le Fay, an ancient woman who has already helped him. She explains to him that only one prior needs to look into the light of the ark for the others to see the same thing in their staffs via subspace connections. Then Teal'c appears, who was able to enter the fortress healed, and frees Daniel while Vala frees Tomin. Daniel and Teal'c join them and they make their way to the ark.

On the Odyssey, Mitchell detonates the explosive charge, burning Marrick's body and leaving only the metal replicator skeleton of him. This human-like replicator attacks Mitchell. At the last second, Carter manages to shut down the Replicators before they can kill Mitchell and overrun the core defenses.

In Celestis, Adria reappears with Vala, Teal'c, Tomin and Daniel who are trying to find out the combination to activate the ark. Vala distracts Adria for a moment and Daniel manages to enter the right combination. Teal'c opens the drawer with a targeted shot at the table and the Doci, the leader of the priors, looks inside. Through this he realizes the true nature of the Ori. When Adria wants to kill everyone present, Morgan Le Fay reappears and attacks Adria. Both then disappear.

Shortly before the destruction of the Odyssey, the Ori ships stop firing as all priors in the Ori galaxy now know the truth of what saved the Odyssey from destruction.

Back on earth, the ark is opened in front of the prior who was held captive there. Thereupon all priors in the Milky Way also recognize the truth about the Ori, since there is a connection between them.

In the epilogue , Mitchell and Carter meet in the infirmary; Carter tells him that the IOA will apologize to him as soon as he gets well. Vala tells Tomin, who is now the leader of one of the peoples formerly ruled by the Ori, that she will stay with the humans. Daniel complains to General Landry about the ark in Area 51 being investigated. The last thing you see is how SG-1, fully recovered, meets to explore a new planet.
