The Municipio Morochata is a district in the Department of Cochabamba in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .

Location in the vicinity

The Municipio Morochata is one of three (until 2009: two) Municipios of the Ayopaya Province . It is bordered to the west by the La Paz department , to the southwest by the municipality of Ayopaya , to the south by the province of Tapacarí , to the southeast by the province of Quillacollo , and to the east by the municipality of Cocapata .

The central place of the municipality is Morochata with 584 inhabitants in the southern part of the district. ( 2012 census )

The municipality of Morochata is located between the Cordillera Mazo Cruz and the Cordillera del Tunari , a north-western section of the Cordillera Oriental . The climate is a typical daytime climate , in which the temperature fluctuations between day and night are more pronounced than between the seasons.
