Totorani is a town in the Cochabamba department in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .

Location in the vicinity

Totorani is a village in the district ( Bolivian : Municipio ) Morochata in the province of Ayopaya . The village is located at an altitude of 3340  m on the left, northern bank of the Río Totorani , which joins two kilometers downstream with the Río Misicuni to the Río Altamachi , which later flows over the Río Santa Elena to the Río Beni .

Totorani lies in the transition area between the Cordillera Tunari , which adjoins to the south and the Cordillera de Cocapata to the north . The climate is a typical daytime climate , in which the temperature fluctuations between day and night are more pronounced than between the seasons.

The annual average temperature of the region is just under 1 ° C (see Cocapata climate diagram) and fluctuates only slightly over the course of the year between −2.5 ° C in June / July and 3 ° C in November. The Ruta 4 trunk road runs through Cochabamba, with a length of 1,657 kilometers across the entire country in a west-east direction. From Cochabamba, after thirteen kilometers west on route 4, you reach the town of Quillacollo , in the center of which the "Camino a Morochata" branches off to the north, which leads north to Marquina and then winds up the Cordillera Tunari in serpentines. After a total of 47 kilometers, a side road branches off to the northeast, which leads into the valley of the Río Misicuni and passes the Misicuni dam. From the dam it is another 21 kilometers down the Misicuni to Totorani .
