The Río Santa Elena is a tributary to the Río Beni and is located on the eastern slopes of the Andean Cordillera in the South American state of Bolivia .

The Río Santa Elena rises in the Cordillera de Cocapata , it has a length of 177 kilometers and belongs to the river system of the Amazon . The river begins in a spring lake at an altitude of 4245 m, which has a length of 1000 m and a maximum width of 300 m. The Río Santa Elena flows largely in a northerly direction between the ridges of the Cordillera de Cocapata and the Cordillera de Mosetenes . The largest tributary is the Río Altamachi, which flows into the Río Santa Elena after 117 km from the southeast. The river ends after 177 km, joins the Río Cotacajes and then bears the name Río Alto Beni .
