The Cordillera de Cocapata is a mountain ridge in the eastern parts of the Bolivian Andes . It is part of the Cordillera Oriental and reaches its northernmost extent to the confluence of the Río Boopi in the Río Alto Beni . The southernmost section of the Cordillera de Cocapata is the Cordillera del Tunari , which is bordered to the south by the fertile and densely populated valley of Cochabamba .
The Cordillera de Cocapata has about 70 to 80 peaks with heights between 4700 m and 5060 m, the highest peaks in the region are the Cerro Pirhuata (5060 m) and the Cerro Tunari (5023 m).
