The Río Altamachi is one of the rivers in the upper reaches of the Río Beni and is located on the eastern slopes of the Andean Cordillera in the South American state of Bolivia .

The Río Altamachi takes its name from the union of the Río Misicuni with the Río Totorani in the town of Altamachi in the Cordillera de Cocapata , it is 149 kilometers long and belongs to the Amazon river system . The Río Altamachi flows largely in a north-easterly direction for the first 78 kilometers, then meets the Serranía de Mosetenes and then follows the course of this ridge in a north-westerly direction. After a total of 149 kilometers, the river flows into the Río Santa Elena , which continues to flow in a north-westerly direction and merges with the Río Cotacajes to form the Río Alto Beni . The river flows through a largely deserted area, it is located in the municipality of Morochata in the province of Ayopaya and forms the border for long stretches to the municipality of Villa Tunari in the province of Chapare to the east .
