Dietmar Korzeniewski

Dietmar Korzeniewski (born September 10, 1933 in Cologne , † December 5, 1979 in Frechen ) was a German classical philologist and high school teacher.

Dietmar Korzeniewski, the son of the industrial clerk Reinhard Korzeniewski and Cäcilie geb. Poll, attended the old language branch of the New Language High School in Porz am Rhein , where he passed the Abitur examination on March 8, 1954. He then studied classical philology, philosophy , archeology and ancient history at the Universities of Cologne and Bonn . After the preliminary scientific examination in philosophy and education in the winter semester of 1957/58 in Bonn, he completed his studies in Cologne. On October 29, 1959, he received a PhD thesis suggested by Hellfried Dahlmann. phil. PhD . In 1960 he passed the first state examination and taught Latin, Greek and history at high schools in Cologne. He died in Frechen on December 5, 1979 at the age of 46.

Korzeniewski's main research interests were the Latin poetry of the imperial era , Greek metrics and the didactics of ancient languages. In his dissertation, which was supervised by Hellfried Dahlmann and whose second reviewer was Albrecht Dihle , he dealt with the dating of the historian Quintus Curtius Rufus . He later published several articles in professional journals, edited volumes and editions on Latin poetry and a handbook on Greek metrics, which had three editions and was translated into Italian in 1998.
