The Serranía de Mosetenes (also: Cordillera de Mosetenes ) is an elongated ridge in the department of Cochabamba in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .

location

The Serranía de Mosetenes is one of the Bolivian Voranden chains and lies northeast of the Cordillera de Cocapata and extends east along the Río Malpaso , the Río Altamachi and the Río Santa Elena , which, like the Serranía de Mosetenes, run from southeast to northwest. The southern part of the ridge is in the municipality of Villa Tunari in the province of Chapare , the middle and northern part in the municipality of Morochata in the province of Ayopaya . To the northeast of the Serranía de Mosetenes, the significantly lower Serranía Marimonos and the Serranía Sejeruma run on the edge of the Beni lowlands . The Serranía de Mosetenes has a length of a little more than a hundred kilometers, the highest peaks in the middle and at the southern end of the Voranden chain reach heights of ( 2040  m ) and ( 2060  m ).

geography

The Serranía de Mosetenes follows the folding direction of the Andes high mountains without reaching the absolute height of the central Andean regions. From the Serranía de Mosetenes a number of smaller rivers drains to the southwest and to the northeast.

Development

The Serranía del Mosetenes is almost uninhabited, it is hardly accessible at all by unpaved roads.
