The TuS Pegau 1903 eV is a sports club in the south of Leipzig nearby town Pegau . The club includes the football, badminton, pop gymnastics and dance club departments.
history
In its chronicle, the association states two Pegau associations as historical roots. On March 11, 1903, the "FC Pegau" was founded, which in 1911 was renamed the "Pegauer Ballspielverein". In addition, there was the “General Municipal Gymnastics Association”, which was a member of the Workers' Gymnastics and Sports Association . Since 1912 the "SC Pegau" was active under the umbrella of the ATSB, from which in 1912 the "Sportvereinigung 1912 Pegau" emerged. On May 19, 1931 , the workers' soccer players of SV 1912 Pegau in front of 20,000 spectators in Hamburg after a 2: 4 defeat against SC Lorbeer 06 Hamburg became German ATSB runners-up. When the National Socialists came to power, SV Pegau was dissolved and attached to the Pegau Ballspielverein.
After the Second World War, the Pegauer Ballspielverein had to be dissolved. In its place came in 1952 the "BSG Progress Pegau". It became known nationwide in 1973 when weightlifters E. Homilius and H. Becker became GDR champions. The soccer section never got beyond the regional Leipzig soccer leagues. In 1953 the soccer team became champions of the Geithain district league, and in 1964 the Geithain district cup was won.
In 1990 the previous sponsoring companies lost their sponsorship of sports , so on June 20, 1990 members of the BSG founded the "TuS 1903 Pegau eV". His soccer team won the 2003 cup in the Borna / Geithain district. In the 2010/11 season, the TuS was promoted to the newly founded district league Muldental / Leipziger Land. There the club only lasted one season and ended up relegated to the district league A. In 2018 the district championship and promotion to the district league succeeded again. Again the TuS got down again after one season. In the 2019/20 season he was immediately promoted again and by winning the district cup the "double".
