Piusilla is a town in the department of Cochabamba in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .
Location in the vicinity
Piusilla is the second largest municipality in the canton of Morochata in the district ( Bolivian : Municipio ) Morochata in the province of Ayopaya . The village is located at an altitude of 3400 m on the Río Piusilla, a tributary of the Río Morochata , which drains to the Río Cotacajes , one of the headwaters of the Río Beni .

Piusilla lies between the Cordillera Maso Cruz and the Cordillera del Tunari , a north-western section of the Cordillera Oriental . The climate is a typical daytime climate , in which the temperature fluctuations between day and night are more pronounced than between the seasons.
The annual average temperature of the region is just under 15 ° C (see climate diagram Independencia) and fluctuates over the course of the year between 11 ° C in June / July and 17 ° C in November / December. The annual precipitation is around 750 mm, with a dry season from May to August with monthly precipitation below 20 mm contrasted with a pronounced humidity period , in which the monthly values clearly exceed 100 mm from December to March.

Piusilla is located at a distance of 80 kilometers by road northwest of Cochabamba , the capital of the department.
From Cochabamba, the paved road Ruta 4 leads 17 kilometers westwards via Quillacollo to Vinto . There the unpaved road Ruta 25 branches off to the northwest and overcomes heights of more than 4,300 m on the 59 km long way to Morochata . Five kilometers before Morochata, a country road branches off from Ruta 25 in a northerly direction and leads via San Isidro to Piusilla.

Due to the historically developed population distribution, the region has a high proportion of Quechua population, in the Municipio Morochata 96.6 percent of the population speak the Quechua language.
