action

Nathalie marries the judge George, who previously sentenced her to a mild sentence in a criminal case. The newly wed couple are spending their vacation at their vacation home on an island in Maine . Nathalie's one-time lover, Kent shows up at Nathalie's while George is on a night fishing trip. Kent dies surprisingly overnight after drinking a lot of alcohol. In a panic, Nathalie hides the naked corpse under a hatch in the basement so that her husband does not notice the nightly visit of her former lover.

When George returns from the fishing trip, he discovers that the floor hatch is not closed and helps with a powerful kick. In doing so, he unwittingly breaks the neck of the corpse hidden there. Nathalie confesses to her husband that Kent visited her last night and that she died of natural causes. Nathalie wants to report the incident to the police, but George says they would not believe in an accident and accuse him of murder, as the circumstances suggest anything but natural death. For example, there was methanol in the vodka bottle Kent emptied . In addition, the neck of the naked corpse is broken and her clothes can no longer be found because Nathalie sank her into the sea in her panic.

So George and Nathalie want to sink the body in the sea, but Lance, who has been friends with Nathalie since childhood and lives in the immediate vicinity on the otherwise uninhabited island, bothers them. George then dismembered the body and concreted it in the steps of her newly built gazebo.

Nathalie cannot believe what deed her husband was able to do. Since George fears that she could call the police, he tries to kill Nathalie, who seeks help from the very understanding Lance.

However, she found a postcard from Lance from Kent, on which he announced his arrival. She suspects Lance of jealousy to have changed the contents of the bottle and runs back to George to tell him. George got drunk in the meantime and shoots Lance in the following argument. He ties Nathalie to a chair again and concretes her feet in a large bucket. He threatens to throw her into the sea, but it turns out that he has also drunk methanol and is now blind. George falls into the water and is pierced by the falling top of the gazebo. Nathalie also falls into the water. However, she is rescued by a Coast Guard officer who shows up on the island to look for the boat stolen from Kent.

When Nathalie leaves the island with the policeman and records the course of events on the boat trip, the policeman asks for some refreshment. Then Nathalie offers him a water bottle that George poisoned with Nathalie's narcotics, which Nathalie knows nothing about.
