action

Go and Live begins in 1984 in a refugee camp in Sudan . Thousands of Ethiopian Jews, Christians and Muslims fled the famine in Ethiopia in 1984–1985 and are now suffering from malnutrition and disease in the “hunger camps”. The Jews are brought to Israel by plane as part of Operation Moses . A Christian mother then sends her son away to save his life with the words: "Go and live".

From now on, the boy pretends to be a Jew, calls himself Solomon (Schlomo) , is brought to Israel and adopted by a Jewish family. He has to find his way in a foreign culture and also deal with the distrust that many white Israelis have towards the black Ethiopian Jews - and last but not least, Shlomo has to keep his secret, because if it turns out that he is not a Jew at all, he will from sent back to Ethiopia by the government . All the while, Schlomo suffers a lot from being separated from his mother. He becomes a doctor, marries and returns to the refugee camps to help and look for his mother.
