The Philadelphia Hebrew High Academy Jewish school basketball team has not won a game in two years. The disinterested coach Simowitz is not much help for the team. But the talented team captain Alex Schlotsky, called Schlotz, wants to win the championship, which is to take place at the school this year. By chance he meets Lamont Carr, the former college team star. The team thinks he is the reincarnation of Judas Maccabeus . Alex persuades Lamont against the wishes of his parents and the director Mrs. Klein to train the team. With his help, the team wins the tournament.
