Trettmann (* 9. October 1973 as Stefan Richter in Karl-Marx-Stadt ) is a German Hip-Hop - RnB - and dancehall - singer . He became widely known from 2016 with German-language trap and cloud rap , where he performs his multi-layered texts in a style between rap and modulated singing. Trettmann works with the KitschKrieg production team .

life and career

childhood

Stefan Richter grew up in Karl-Marx-Stadt (today: Chemnitz) together with his older brother with his mother. The family lived in the Fritz Heckert residential area , a large new prefabricated building area. The earliest musical influences he later described as his mother's record collection and " Black Music " on Westradio .

He got his first impressions of hip-hop in 1984 when the b-boys group New York City Breakers appeared on the television show Wetten, dass ..? and the film Beat Street , which was released in GDR cinemas in 1985. Richter started breakdancing and joined various crews in Chemnitz .

At the same time he became a member of the Central Pioneer and FDJ Ensemble Karl-Marx-Stadt , which was taught in an extra school class. In addition to the normal lessons, the students received training in orchestral and choral music, dance and speaking. For this he changed schools in 1984 and attended the E-class at the Fritz-Schmenkel-Schule in Chemnitz-Schönau from the 5th grade . Richter passed his A- levels in Chemnitz after the fall of the Berlin Wall , and he did not join an apprenticeship or study course.

In the early 1990s he first traveled to Jamaica , a travel destination that had a strong musical influence. In the following years he worked in various temporary jobs, including in a record store. He also put on records. He lived in Berlin for a while, then in 2001 he moved to Leipzig to organize HiFi parties with his friends from the Reggae sound system Rotzlöffel and to perform as an MC .

With his debut single Summer is here for everyone! under the then artist name Ronny "RT" Trettmann , he entered the German single charts for four weeks in 2006 . The name should sound similar to "Dreadman", meaning man with dreads . Ronny Trettmann sang his songs in the Saxon dialect and satirized the German reggae / dancehall scene. Der Kaffee-Mix (2006) summarizes the early productions on the Germaican Records label . In 2007 he opened the big stage at the Summerjam Festival and made his first appearance at the Splash Festival. In 2008 he did it by hand! drew attention to the so-called “Leipzig lead scandal”: In Leipzig , lead- stretched marijuana was brought into circulation and poisoned several dozen people.

In spring 2008 he ended the collaboration with Germaican Records and founded his own label Heckert Empire . Together with Soulforce, a music producer from Krefeld , who also operated a sound system, he released the Heckert Empire Mix in the autumn of the same year and thus moved more and more away from the image of the pure comedy artist. In his 2008 song Grandfather he deals with the past of his grandparents. In 2010 he appeared about 40 times a year, his first studio album Zwei chlorine bleached scoundrels was released, recorded together with Rüdiger Schramm alias Ranking Smo. By then, Trettmann had definitely given up the Saxon dialect and thus the comedy act. Before the release of his album Tanz auf dem Vulkan (2013), he raised money for promotion, marketing and the production of a sound carrier through crowdfunding . The video for the single Ostseemuse was also produced from the money raised .

Trettmann

Since 2016 he has only appeared as a Trettmann . In that year he released three EPs with KitschKrieg in quick succession , which a music critic described as "cloudy KitschKrieg beats [...] in the Cloudrap style".

Through his guest appearances on the commercially successful album Palmen aus Plastik by the musicians RAF Camora and Bonez MC , Trettmann became known to a larger audience in 2016. With his album #DIY he reached the German album charts at number 17 for the first time in 2017. In 2018 he stayed up for several weeks with the German rap greats Gzuz , Ufo361 and Gringo with the song "Standard", which was produced by his regular producers KitschKrieg Number 1 in the German charts.

On September 13, 2019, the self-titled album Trettmann was released in collaboration with KitschKrieg, which reached number 2 in the German charts.

Trettmann lives in Leipzig and works with KitschKrieg in Berlin-Kreuzberg .
