Germaican Records is a record label from Leipzig . It is the most famous reggae - and dancehall - label in Germany .
history
Germaican Records was founded as a website in 1999. This was founded by producer and selector Leander Topp, better known by his stage name Pionear , to make his own productions better known. Germaican Records only acted as a label two years later. The first album was a riddim album produced by Steven Ventura's Celestial Studio . The so-called Bitch Riddim was created by well-known artists such as B. Elephant Man , Lady Saw or Kiprich sung about. The Bitch Riddim was the best-selling riddim in Germany in 2000. Germaican Records achieved international fame in 2002 with the song "It's A Pity" by Tanya Stephens on the Doctor's Darling Riddim . This was produced by Peter Fox and Pioneer and played by the Berlin band Seeed . The song was on the top reggae charts in Trinidad , Atlanta and New York City for eight weeks . In 2003 the track was included on VP Records' Reggae Gold compilation , the most highly regarded reggae album that year. The song's riddim was also used for VP Records' Riddim Driven riddim series . This was the first time that a riddim from German production was selected for a Jamaican riddim series. Also in 2003 the band Seeed released the single "Music Monks" , which was number four in the German charts for 22 weeks. The associated Pharaoh Riddim was u. a. Sung about by Jamaican greats like Sizzla or TOK , whose songs have also been released on Germaican Records. In 2006, Germaican Records Polsca was the second official sub-label. Two years later, label owner Pioneer founded Germaican Digital , the world's first digital dancehall label. In the meantime, Germaican Records has become one of the most important dancehall labels in Europe.
