Life

Junior Kelly was born on September 23, 1969 under the real name Keith Morgan in Kingston, Jamaica. The family lived in rather poor conditions. Morgan's older brother acted under the pseudonym Jim Kelly as deejay at Killamanjaro, a well-known sound system, and supported the family financially. It was through his brother that Morgan came into contact with music. However, when Keith was 13 years old, his brother was shot dead in the immediate vicinity of their home. In the mid-80s he started singing at Soundsystems. At this time he also took the stage name "Junior Kelly" in honor of his brother.
