Peter Fox (* 3. September 1971 in West Berlin as Pierre Baigorry ) is a German reggae - and hip-hop - musicians . He is one of the two front men of the band Seeed and also known by the pseudonyms Enuff and Pete Fox .

Career

Peter Fox is the son of a German teacher of Polish descent and a French Baskin from Saint-Étienne-de-Baïgorry who was born in Berlin-Lichterfelde and grew up in Barcelona . In his in Zehlendorf local situation Schönow spent childhood, he began piano playing and been a member in Schönower trombone . Later he founded various school bands. He later derived his stage name from his nickname Foxi , which he got because of his red hair . He attended the French grammar school in Berlin ; He made his Abitur at another grammar school in Berlin-Steglitz . Immediately after graduating from high school, he began an apprenticeship as a piano maker , but soon broke it off.

He later worked in record stores in Berlin and as a DJ. In between he started working in various bands, studying music and around 1997/98 - when the musician career had practically been shelved - studying special education and English studies with the aim of becoming a special school teacher for people with disabilities.

Fox has been one of the singers in the reggae / dancehall group Seeed since 1998 and is also active as a solo artist. On November 1, 2007, the track Fieber , which he sings with KIZ , was published as an audio sample on his MySpace page. In September 2008 his first solo album was released under the title Stadtaffe , which reached first place in the German album charts in February 2009. It was recorded entirely in German and produced together with Monk and DJ Illvibe . In addition, two percussionists and the Babelsberg film orchestra took part, which contributed melodies , harmonies and riffs . The pre-single Alles neu was released in August 2008.

In addition to his work at Seeed, he had guest appearances with other artists, for example in the songs Marry Me by Miss Platnum , Rodeo by Sido and Microsleep by Marteria . From winter 2008 the American drumming group “Cold Steel” accompanied Fox on his tours.

On February 13th, 2009 Fox represented Berlin with his third single Schwarz zu blau at the Bundesvision Song Contest 2009 and achieved first place. He is the only interpreter to have won the competition twice (2006 together with Seeed) and, along with David Connen and DJ Illvibe, is also one of the only authors to win twice.

On February 21, 2009 he received the Echo Music Prize in the “Hip-Hop / Urban” category, the Echo Critics Prize and - together with The Krauts  - the “Producer of the Year” award. In June 2009 he directed the music video of singer Miss Platnum for her single She Moved In .

At the beginning of July 2009 Fox told the Swiss magazine Sonntag that he would end his solo career after the festival summer 2009 because the hype about himself was getting too big for him. In an interview on his website, however, Fox made it clear: “It was always planned that way. I'll make a record and then we'll continue with SEEED. ”On August 25th and 26th, 2009 he gave two farewell concerts as a solo artist in Berlin. 2011 Fox took Marteria the song nodding off on. In September 2012 he released the album SEEED with Seeed .

In 2018 Fox contributed four songs under his real name to the soundtrack of the film drama Asphaltgorillas . Shortly before that, he announced that he would go on tour with Seeed again in 2019. In the same year Fox released two singles from the newly founded band Ricky Dietz as a duo partner with Sway Clarke . The Seeed album BAM BAM was released in October 2019, followed by a tour, and further open-air concerts are planned for summer 2020.

In August 2020, the single was released Lambo Lambo of Kitsch War , where he was represented as a feature guest.

Private

Peter Fox lived in Berlin-Kreuzberg for a long time , which has often inspired him to write his texts. Around 2002 he suffered facial paralysis due to a viral infection that was not recognized in time and still has effects today in the form of slight paralysis of the right side of the face.

He is an active member of the political platform geht-auch-anders.de , for which he conducted several interviews on energy and climate policy in 2014. In 2015, further interviews followed on the same topic as well as on tax justice (including an increase in the top tax rate ), for example in the context of a guest broadcast on Radio Eins or in a dispute with Harald Martenstein . Fox is committed to learning to read and write, among other things as part of the iCHANCE campaign , which is carried out by the Federal Association for Literacy and Basic Education .

In 2014 he founded “BÄM! first Berlin DRUMLINE school "to offer children and young people the opportunity to learn an instrument in a group.

Peter Fox has a brother, Sebastian Krajewski (drummer, among others with Seeed), and a sister, Verena Krajewski (choreographer, among others with BÄM). He is married in his second marriage and has a son and a daughter from his first marriage. He is a supporter of Hertha BSC and FC Barcelona .
