Xavas (spelling: XAVAS ) is a joint musical project of the German soul singer Xavier Naidoo and the German rapper Kool Savas . The name Xavas is made up of the two names Xavier and Savas. On September 21, 2012, the joint album was released under this name. The first single, Schau nicht zurück , was published in advance in German-speaking countries on August 24, 2012. This project was preceded by various other collaborations between Kool Savas and Xavier Naidoo.

collaboration

According to their own statement, both have known each other for several years and developed a friendship over the years. Naidoo also said he became a vegetarian because of the song The Best Day of My Life by Kool Savas while in Turkey .

Rapper's Delight

Kool Savas was the owner of the Optik Records label from 2002 to 2009 . The German hip-hop producer Melbeatz alias Melanie Wilhelm released Rapper's Delight on June 7, 2004 on this label . The album features 17 tracks with vocal and rap parts by various artists that Melbeatz produced. Kool Savas acted as executive producer . Naidoo is featured twice on the album, namely in this time (summer of my life) and in 2. Bildungsweg together with the Frankfurt rapper Tone .

One

The first mutual musical cooperation , in which both Xavier Naidoo and Kool Savas could be heard, came in 2005. On March 29, 2005, the collaboration album between Kool Savas and the Frankfurt rapper Azad , One , was released on Sony BMG , Optik Records and Azad's former label Bozz Music . The album One consists of 13 songs in the normal edition and 14 songs in the limited edition . Xavier Naidoo is the only feature guest on track 13. The song is called What did I do to you and it was produced with Milan Martelli .

We beaten more

We beaten more was a series of concerts that took place in Hamburg and Berlin and was initiated by Kool Savas and Xavier Naidoo . First of all, the two concerts were to take place on October 8, 2010 in the Hamburg O2 World Arena and on October 9 in the O2 World Arena in Berlin . For organizational reasons, the events were postponed to January 2011, so that Wir beaten was held on January 6th in Hamburg and on January 7th in Berlin. The aim of the project was to bring different artists from the genres R&B , soul , pop and hip-hop together on stage. Numerous artists accepted the invitation of Xavier Naidoo and Kool Savas. In addition to the main actors Kool Savas and Xavier Naidoo, the line-up included the artists Jan Delay , the Sons of Mannheim , Cassandra Steen , Adel Tawil , Max Herre , Joy Denalane , Azad , Sido , J-Luv, Marteria and Das Bo . Surprise guests have also been announced for the two concerts. The appearances of D-Flame from Frankfurt and the Seeed front man Peter Fox were not announced in advance . In addition, Kool Savas and Xavier Naidoo presented two songs from their joint album for the first time at the two concerts: the single Schau nicht zurück and the song Lied vom Leben . Kool Savas then announced that both songs may be released at some point.

aura

At the end of May 2011, Kool Savas announced that he wanted to release his third solo album that same year. The album Aura was released on November 11, 2011 via Essah Entertainment . In addition to the Scala Choir and rapper Olli Banjo , Xavier Naidoo is one of three feature guests on Aura . Xavier Naidoo contributed the background vocals to the title track of the album. He can also be heard on the last song of the 2012 album LMS . On the album Aura , LMS stands for "Last Man Standing" and was produced by 7inch . As the last song on the album, LMS 2012 provided a foretaste of the joint album by Xavier Naidoo and Kool Savas Split Personality . Aura reached number 1 in the German album charts.

Split personality

Awarded gold and platinum records to Xavas for the album Split Personality (2011)

In October 2009, Xavier Naidoo was a guest at VIVA . There he was misled by the moderator and Kool Savas . Kool Savas adjusted his voice on the phone and Xavier Naidoo had to use ten questions to find out who was on the line. Xavier Naidoo did not recognize Kool Savas, but said after the breakup that he and Kool Savas were currently working on a joint project. Whether this statement referred to Wir beaten more or the album together remained open. Nevertheless, it was announced here for the first time that both are pursuing a joint project.

The first speculations about a possible joint album began in January 2011. During the concerts of Wir beaten mehr in Berlin and Hamburg, Xavier Naidoo and Kool Savas played the songs Schau nicht zurück and Lied vom Leben . Then Kool Savas announced that both songs may be released at some point.

In May 2011, Kool Savas confirmed in an interview with Mixery Raw Deluxe that he will record an album with Xavier Naidoo, because the two songs that were played on Wir beaten mehr were very well received and both of them wanted to do the project. The recordings for the album began in June 2011. At the City Festival in Zurich on May 5, 2012, Kool Savas announced on stage that the album would be finished in the next few weeks and will be released in September.

At the beginning of June 2012 the list of participants for the Bundesvision Song Contest was published. There it was published for the first time that Kool Savas and Xavier Naidoo will not appear again under the name Xavas with the single show . So it was clear that the album would be released under the name Xavas. First information about the album was announced on July 19, 2012. This included the album title Split Personality and the release date September 21, 2012. The track list followed on August 20th, and it was also announced that the only feature on the album was Olli Banjo . Split personality comprises a total of 15 songs.

The album was released via Naidoo Records in cooperation with Essah Entertainment and the Tonpool distributor. A shoutout and an album teaser were published in advance of the album release. In addition, there was an exclusive showcase in Berlin on September 5th, at which Xavas presented selected songs by Split Personality live.

Don't look back anymore / Bundesvision Song Contest 2012

Don't look back is the first single from Xavas. The single was produced by Milan Martelli . For the first time she waspresented liveon the concert series Wir beaten mehr . The video was shot in July 2012 on the Großglockner in Austria . A making-of of the video shoot was also published.

The video premiere of Schau nicht zurück took place on August 24, 2012 on MyVideo . On the first day of the video, the single was also released in digital form.

Since the response was very positive, it was announced on the same day that the single would also be released as a physical sound carrier. The CD single was released on September 5, 2012.

In June 2012 it was announced that Xavas would no longer compete for the state of Baden-Württemberg at the Bundesvision Song Contest 2012 in Berlin. They achieved first place there on September 28, 2012 with a total of 172 points.

accusations

In November 2012, the Linksjugend Solid and the national working group queer.NRW filed a complaint against Kool Savas, Xavier Naidoo and his music label Tonpool Media GmbH . The accused were misanthropic, violence-glorifying and homophobic passages in the song Where are they now on the album Gespaltene Personality . On November 15, 2012, it was announced that the Mannheim Public Prosecutor's Office would not investigate the persons charged, as the allegations were not justified.
