The eighth Bundesvision Song Contest took place on September 28, 2012 in the Max-Schmeling-Halle in Berlin . With Tim Bendzko's victory last year, the competition was brought to Berlin for the third time.

The winner was XAVAS for Baden-Württemberg with the title Don't look back ; no musical contribution in the history of the Bundesvision Song Contest has been able to place so high in the German single charts, namely at number 2, as this year's winning title.

Second place was for Sachsen Laing with the title Mornings Always Tired .

Rüdiger Linhof and Florian Weber from Sportfreunde Stiller , who participate in Fiva & the Phantom Orchestra, and Boris Lauterbach from Fettes Brot , who performed with his solo project Der König tanzt , returned.

As the opening act, the group Seeed performed with the songs Augenbling and Beautiful . Tim Bendzko acted as a break with If words were my language , the winning title from last year.

Don't look back from XAVAS was the first contribution to make it into the top 10 of the Swiss single charts. Only three years later, the single Geiles Leben by Glasperlenspiel , which made it to the top of the local charts, was another BSC contribution to the top 10 of the Swiss single charts.
