The 4th Bundesvision Song Contest took place on February 14, 2008, 9:00 p.m. in the TUI-Arena in Hanover . The performing artists and the countries they represent were presented from January 21 to February 13, 2008 in the TV total program . The Bundesvision Song Contest 2008 was moderated by Stefan Raab and Johanna Klum . In the Green Room was Elton . At the beginning of the event, Lower Saxony's Prime Minister Christian Wulff was welcomed in the arena and presented as the “patron” of the competition.

After 2005, Clueso competed for his home country Thuringia for the second time. Peter Brugger , singer from Sportfreunde Stiller, also represented Bavaria for the second time after his appearance with TipTop in 2006. Furthermore, Mamadee , who participated in 2005, was represented again with her group Sisters. The Federal Vision Song Contest 2008 was won by Subway to Sally . Favorites and established groups and artists such as Sportfreunde Stiller , Laith Al-Deen or currently successful starters such as Culcha Candela achieved lower placements than many newcomers. This was the only Federal Vision Song Contest so far without one of the "old" federal states in the top 3.

The show was seen by an average of 1.58 million viewers (8.0% market share). In the target group of 14 to 49 year olds, 1.31 million viewers could be measured (15% market share). Since the first competition in 2005 , audience numbers have fallen continuously, but the market share has increased from 7.6% in the previous year to 8.0%. On February 29, 2008, 12 of the 16 participating titles were in the Top 100 of the German charts, 8 of them even in the TOP 50. Clueso and Das Bo went straight to 15th and 16th place respectively.
