Down Below was a rock band from Dessau-Roßlau that was founded in 2003.

history

The band combines several styles such as alternative rock , dark rock and metal and emerged from the Roßlauer dark metal band Cryptic Carnage and the alternative rock band Turn . The name of the band is used to flirt with a dark feeling that comes from the depths.

The first album, Silent Wings: Eternity, has an Egyptian-mythological touch and is musically perceived as "knee-deep in the well-known clichés" of Gothic and Metal.

In the course of the last few years, numerous appearances, including at Rock am Ring 2007, and the record deal with the major label Universal have increased awareness in Spain and Germany. With the release of the single From the Highest Point in June 2007, another milestone was reached and the newcomer status was dropped.

On February 14, 2008, Down Below competed for the federal state of Saxony-Anhalt in Stefan Raab's Bundesvision Song Contest 2008 with the title Sand in Meine Hand , her first song in German, and took third place behind Brandenburg and Thuringia with 96 points. With this single she also reached the German charts for the first time (number 42).

At the end of 2008 the band left Universal and signed with Premium Records. In June 2009 the album Wildes Herz was released , which barely missed the album charts.

In 2010 and 2011, Down Below toured as the opening act for Unheilig . In February 2012, she released her fourth album, Zeichen , which made it into the album charts.

In 2013 the EP Unforgotten Zeit followed - a duet with Natalia Avelon - and on September 20 the fifth studio album Zur Sonne - Zur Freiheit .

On July 31, 2016, the band announced their breakup at the end of the year. The Down Below family with 700 fans said goodbye on December 17, 2016 in the Dessau Golf Park with their traditional "Advent glow".
