Onejiru

Onejiru (born October 30th in Nairobi , Kenya ), real name Pielina Wanjiru Schindler or Onejiro Schindler , is the stage name of a Kenyan musician living in Germany.

Life

Pielina Wanjiru Schindler was born in Kenya, but grew up in Wanne-Eickel , where she gained her first musical experience in a girls' choir and a ballet. Schindler is a qualified geographer and lives in Hamburg .

As part of Helge Schneider's band Firefuckers , she toured Germany and Austria. She also sang on albums by Jan Delay , the Sam Ragga Band ( Loktown Hi-Life , 2003) and Matthias Arfmann . In 2006 her debut album Prophets of Profit was released . She released another album with the Sisters formation , Gender Riots , in 2008. With Sisters, she achieved 14th place for the state of North Rhine-Westphalia with the song Unite at the Federal Vision Song Contest 2008 .

In 2014 she made a trip to Addis Adeba in Ethiopia for Viva con Agua , where she performed at a concert with Gentlemen , Tamika, Ivy Quianoo and Silly Walks, and to Kenya, where she performed with Marteria and Maeckes . She also works as an artist and sold her works in 2015 in the Millerntor Gallery in St. Pauli for the benefit of Viva con Agua.
